Who am I? 

Am I Californian or Indian? 

I'm from California, but I also come from Indian descent. 

When I choose one over the other, it feels I'm downplaying how important the other is to me. 

In semester one of ninth grade, I met my newest obsession. In semester two, I suffered the consequences.

How odd a phenomenon–

How we live in an age

Where asking for the “I” in I love you 

Is normal? 

Because I’m the kind of girl

The state of being a child

A phase of innocence and immaturity

Childhood,

A period of pure laughter and unadulterated joy

I open it, 

Relishing the new-book scent, 

Hoping 

I can forget again. 

Take me away 

To foreign lands 

Where peace can be found
