Idealized Woman

Why are women

Supposed to

           cower

Before man’s expectations?

Why do we

          succumb

To their

            pathetic

Opinions?

We are treated like clay

We let them

change us to fit their mold

            shifting

Our personalities

Into a mold of their idealized woman

Until we don’t recognize ourselves anymore

The worst part is

They don’t even know

That their actions are

            wrong

They were taught to be

            dominant

We weren’t taught to

            fight

We suffer

From their lack of

            care

For our mental health

We’re

            drowning

In a sea of their

            disrespect

For everything we do

They don’t realize

How much

            power

They have over us

They make their

            critiques

On our bodies

We adapt

To their

            ‘needs’

Why are women

Supposed to

            cower

Before man’s expectations?

Why do we

            succumb

To their

            pathetic

Opinions?

Why do we let them

Put us through

            hell

Just to fulfill

Their

            desires

Of an

            idealized

Woman?

  • Accepting the Truth

    The hardest part

    Wasn’t

    Noticing the signs

Hoping they won’t notice the way they hurt you

    Knowing they don’t care

    Leaving first

    Telling yourself to move on

  • Insanity

    To remember

Is to live in the past

    Unable to forget

    The wonder and happiness

    That emerged from the darkness

    To remember

    Is insanity

To do the same thing repeatedly

  • Someday I'll Be Okay

    I can’t pretend anymore

    I’m not okay,

    I’ve never been okay

And I don’t think I’ll ever be okay

    But every day I’m trying

Every day I’m learning to love the flaws he hated

    Every day I’m writing
