I'm not in a slump right now but I've been there before and it's really frustrating. Nothing feels interesting and my work feels like trash. Writing wise, my advice is to sort of force yourself to write, even though it may feel counterintuitive. I find that making myself practice, even if what I create is terrible, eventually gets me back to a productive place. Changing your routine may help as well, like using a prompt, using an image for inspiration, or writing outside instead of at a desk.
This poem is beautiful and has a complex feel while still being understandable and relatable. Splitting up the word "everything" from the first line was such a smart idea that made it feel so much more powerful.
I appreciate this poem and find it a very good representation of how people can leave so fast without having time to say goodbye to anyone. I like the way you set up this poem, having the two-word lines in the middle creates the feeling of grief behind this poem. This poem is very powerful and very beautiful and well it may be short it is so strong and speaks to so many.
Powerful and heartwarming! This is a beautiful poem in its own right, for its vivid descriptions and the emotional bond being developed, but to then see this special relationship between mother and daughter so strengthened in the last lines really takes it to another level. I admire what you've done here!
I heard Goo Goo Dolls start playing in my head as soon as I looked at this! One of my favorite songs, hands down. That said, this is lovely. I'm a sucker for simple pen or pencil portraiture like this, and your caption made me say "aww!" I hope your friend enjoys it as much as I do.
You've crafted such an air of mystery here! By the end, the reader too feels like they know the woman at the end of the street -- know, in the sense that there's so much they still don't know at all. So much yet to unravel in her persona! You do a great job developing intrigue, and the dark, charming, almost witchy quality of the woman makes for a fascinating character.
She looks like such a sweetheart! It always brings me a small smile to come upon those rainbow sun spots on the floor, when the sun shines through the window in just the right way -- you know the ones -- and they're just lovely sparkling down on your dog. Great shot!
thanks sm!!

Thank you! This has to be my favorite photo of her!
