If you liked Song of Achilles, you will love Circe. It's so much fun and also kind of heartbreaking. Happy reading!

Haha. Thanks for sharing! Yeah, my dad actually read all of them to my younger brother and I when we were 7 and 9 and I think I liked them then because it was a family thing but honestly by the fourth book I was bored out of mind. I actually have read Song of Achilles and I enjoyed that a lot so I'll try Circe!

I've heard it's very similar to Red Queen, is that true? I got through like a quarter of Powerless back when it first came out then switched to reading a different book, and I want to read it, however, if it's like Red Queen I may put it up higher on my TBR!

Hi! Mainly, I think the Percy Jackson series is a source of nostalgia for fans, especially those who read it when they were in elementary or middle school. Its very much a children's series which is why it's so repetitive with plot, however overall its got good themes and messaging. Personally, I like it because it reminds me of when me and my older sister shared a room and we'd listen to the audio books together. Also, for a children's series, its well written and not entirely a bad read, there's some deeper themes there that older readers can dive into and research. As the series progresses, it definitely moves up a little in age range but its always been for a slightly younger audience but I can totally understand why some might not like it. For the series being repetitive, most children's series are because its a safe pattern for both the author and the readers. Younger audiences, at least in my experience, prefer familiarity and knowing the hero will win. As we as readers get older, we tend to want the hero to lose sometimes and we want some nuance. While Percy Jackson may not be in your reading range Rick Riordan also has another series called Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard which is similar in style but also I feel like its more adult in some ways, as well as introducing some very fun characters. If you don't like that, books such as Circe and Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller are aimed at a young adult audience and are retellings of Greek myths. I hoped this helped you understand the appeal and sorry it was so long, I'm procrastinating on my homework lol.

Thank you! I actually did this as an album cover at one point while I was writing music, and thought it would be cool to share.
