Thanks so much for the comment! I'm glad this poem made you feel these things. I think you captivated what I was feeling when I wrote this. There is hope, and there is beauty within ourselves and within our fellow human beings. Once again, thanks for the comment, it helps me write better.
This poem fills me with so many big emotions: hope, strength, optimism, a commitment to my fellow humans. Your words bind us all together as one collective, braced against the troubles of the world, and your last stanza especially leaves me with an expansive feeling I can't quite name.
I think we've all known a person like this at some point in our lives, been close to that one special someone, whether they be a platonic friend or romantic partner, and been let down by them -- had our brightest qualities, and our trust in them, used against us. But I think it's true that losing a good friend can produce a very specific form of grief, just as you've described. I hope, if this is from your perspective, that it was cathartic to write, and that you find your people soon!
Birds can be symbolic of so many things, and I appreciate that you didn't shy away from some of the darker imagery associated with them, i.e. the idea of being caged. It presented a perfect contrast to the overall tone of the piece, which is decidedly optimistic.
I read through most of the 15th Anthology last night, and I absolutely loved your poem! It made me cry, and it's such a deep and beautiful piece. :)
Hello!! Welcome!
My favorite line is the fourth. So true.

The shadows and highlights, the shining spots on the skin, really bring these to life!
Gorgeous! The glowing pink ring to the right of the sun is so prominent!
