The fog has turned the brilliance of the sunrise into such fuzzy pastels... I would never have guessed that fog could transform a landscape like this into a new, serene beauty all its own. In fact, I'd really never thought about fog being beautiful until I came across this photo!
You have a way with words! I enjoyed following your speaker's train of thoughts, all the casual but thought-provoking observations they made. The end surprised and saddened me and made me want to give your character a hug. I remember feeling the same way when I was younger. I hope they come to find their purpose in life -- a life that surely does still want them around!

You nailed the atmosphere of a small town carnival: the sights, the smells, the sounds. I can picture it so clearly!
