Who knew happiness

was something

to hold

A lonely palm

Happiness takes

Wraps itself

Into the embrace

Of your open self

My happiness

Holds me back

His hair, his eyes.

How I love his smile, his laugh.

So funny, so sweet.

Always making me smile, and giggle.

But I’m trapped in the friend zone.

He’s so much more to me, but I’m just a friend.

It has been a long while now since I walked the circle of white.
My childhood packed up into two Hefty trash bags - tearing at the edges of my fingertips.

I’ve heard too many times

The excuses of our nation

That change would be too hard,

Too frightening 

That it would take too long

But why are we arguing

About something so necessary

She’s always happy

I know that’s what they think

She wouldn’t hurt a fly 

That, too

Sometimes they don’t think

That it’s hard for me too

That I don’t always want to be the nice

If I could paint the sky in the hues of colors I feel when I look at you,

The sky would no longer be just one color.

If I could write in words how much I love you,
