Blue Hour

It is 4 in the morning and I am alone.

I sit my sadness on the willow tree.

And the Earth is covered in a thousand shards of heaven;

Like a kaleidoscope, rainbows fall through the trees.

The night slowly gives way to dawn,

And the air smells of cigarettes and coffee,

Suddenly the world is cloaked in silence;

The kind where you're the only thing breathing,

And the mourning dove ceases its call.

When the world stops spinning;

The kind of quiet just for you alone.

And the wind grasps your heart until it stops beating -

And then you blink and time moves on.
