“How could you ever love me?” she asked.
Look at my skin, charred.
My face, scarred.
My body, branded by people’s opinions of me.
“How could you ever love me?”
“I left you when you needed me.”
“Shut you out because I was scared.”
I love you because you are the world.
Because I am the Earth
And you’re the Sun
I revolve around you.
Because I see you for who you are
Underneath all the scars of your past
And I still love you
I see a girl struggling to make peace
With her identity
Who balances on a pedestal between
Being true to herself
And societal expectations
I love you
Because there’s no one else in this world
With your smile your laugh
Your humor your eyes
The way I can tell you have something
Exciting to tell me
By the pure look of joy on your face.
So you ask me how can I love you?
How can I not love you.

This is beautiful. I definitely relate. Super powerful phrasing, and I love the stanzas. Incredible! :)
Thank you so much!!
