It's funny how some of our best ideas seem to come to us at night (if you're a certain kind of person, anyway). But you're right, you need sleep to expand on those ideas and fully realize your dreams! Rest is so important, something that cannot be stressed enough... I love that that was your ending note.
There's a type of poem where it's just a line OR OR OR WAIT I HAD A EUREKA MOMENT there's literally a challenge in the Weekly category on YWP that is like a one-line poem thing! I don't know all the details so you should go check it out!
yes. this is so horrifyingly real. my family is perfectly great with my queerness but homophobia is so deeply ingrained in society and our minds from the moment we're born that every single time I search something related to the LGBTQIA2+ community I have to truly force myself to not press delete on the search bar after I finish looking. and that's on good days.
white straight cis people don't truly understand (oh they may say they do but give me some water and get them out of my sight; they don't know how to be honest) how horrible even the barest bones of society is to our community. WE ARE HUMAN TOO. WE ARE PERFECT.
sorry for my rant your poem is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! I speak from absolutely no experience (just a lot of repeated stories told to me by the news and my life, burning away my flesh) so I didn't expect this to be great.
Thank you so much!!! I always strive to be as descriptive and fluid as possible; I love poetry that lets the lines bleed into each other like ink stains. I really do think of my poetry as a 'freefall', so thanks for noticing!!!
The black of the shutters against the white: The stark contrast looks amazing!
So simple and sweet! I always think the best haikus are based on the natural world.
