Tiny Writes
Genuine question, if a poetry book doesn’t have an overall theme, but sections with themes, would that be ‘okay’ still? My poetry book doesn’t have an overall theme but it has four sections that all connect except for one, and I’m a little weary that it won’t be the correct thing to do when publishing it.

I think that's alright!! Poetry is wild and unpredictable, and if your publisher can't realize that, they're not right for publishing poetry. Lots of poetry books either don't have a theme, or have a very loose one that doesn't connect to all of the poems. Good luck!
Ah thank you so much! I’m trying to self publish my poetry book and hearing this helps a lot, as I was worried about if it needed a theme!
Me too. I think poetry is supposed to be free and kind of crazy and all over the place - it's all about the author's thoughts and emotions, and I don't think it should have any confining rules. Go with the flow - and can I read some of your poems when you're finished?? Looking for inspiration!
Of course!! I post a lot of my poems here on YWP if you wanted to see some of them!!
Yay, thanks!
