Melts the sun
With her ferocity– stripped away,
Turned into fragility,
We gasp as moon swallows sun.
My parents gasp. The sun fades from view. I take off my glasses.
The days leading to the eclipse day were filled with nervous excitement. For a week before April 8th, we kept seeing news reports and weather forecast predicting clouds and chances of rain in our state/area on the day of the eclipse.
One enters between
our source of heat,
And our earth,
from which we breathe.
Like thunderclouds gathering,
Like waves, building before
breaking,
Darkness sweeps over us,
Waiting
eating smoothie
out of a jam jar
and PB&J from the cooler.

on the little snow that's left.
