Being a kid is like a dream. 
You’re riding bikes 
and going on hikes in the park.  
Nothing is holding you down

“Icarus for takeoff, Icarus Rover for take off.” 

Icarus. Icarus. It knows that one. 

"Icarus for takeoff. Countdown initiation."

Icarus. It knows that one.

Irritation bubbles and boils and brews, 
bakes into the stomach lining, 
infects the red flesh with greenish hues

it works its way up and up, 
malady clambering, climbing 
toward the beating hub

Pandora's box held Despair 
it held the fated end,

humanity held in a snare
of their own offends

but after the release, 

in the box remained
a single little spirit

This is the opening sequence/prologue to my Orpheus and Eurydice rewrite (partially inspired by Hadestown with the tracks and all but I have never seen the musical) in 1860s cowboy Texas!

Forever viridescent under a simple golden hue

Grass and trees and beautiful clouds that shape our world anew

Iridescent skies, viridescent earth, oh what a sunrise
