I learned

To count to two

In elementary school

Thought I'd count shooting stars

Fireflies

Little things

Counting to two

Seemed so simple

Now I count people who left

Count gravestones

What I have of you

Is memories of a better time

Jokes you made at 9:14 at the dinner table

Now it’s just

Laughter, exuberant grins followed by

Somber friends and silent abandonment

Maybe

One Day you could say

Sorry, or some sort of apology

But I know you can't apologize to my face

Why not?

Do you think my face is

Like a mirror

Shows all your ugly actions,

I'm going somewhere no one's been before 

I'm going somewhere that's told about in stories, real life 

Told maybe to help us prepare for where we're going but

First off, you’re selfish 

Second, you’re jealous

Third, you always make me feel like I’m worthless

Fourth, you always talk about your ex

Fifth, I’m just done with all this…

"Y-You're really pretty for someone so e-evil," whispers the young sailor as I lay him down on the floor. "S-Such long hair..."

"Shhhhh," I whisper back, bringing a finger to his mouth to shush him. "Don't waste your energy."
