A Letter I Can't Send
oh darling, you'll never understand why i did what i did. I don't think i ever will either. i held on as long as i could. i would've held on longer, if i could stand lying to you.

in the snow
it was January
you took me to school
we blasted Hozier and I begged you
to stop at the gas stationwe bought two cups of coffee
(mine was mostly milk)
and an apple turnover to share -
snow
my heart so beating
soft in my chest where there is
waiting a snowy storm

here in the forest, there is a-waiting
a little bird, quiet and sweet
she does not quite understand

once in the darkness
where i was thinking
i saw a light
oh deep in my soul
i did not question
where it had came from
i simply sat
in its embrace -
winter and her freezing grasp
winter wages her war outside
angrily beating her ice-hands on my doors
thrashing branches she sends through the air,
a flurry of soft snow not far behind
she screams her wind-scream, rage filling the storm.

letting your fragile bones be exposed to the crisp air of october
letting your fingertips run over the bars of the cemetery gates

Witches' Whisper

As the trees begin to make a sea-
of dead leaves, creating a painting that weaves-
