The Void

As the moon and stars swirled around me overhead, I was overcome by a sense of senseless peace. My body floated in the endless void, as little purple sprites took apart every atom of my being. It wasn’t painful. More like a soft, motherly touch, that drifts through every part of your body. It was relaxing, a break from everything that had befallen me. Before I knew it, I was falling into a deep slumber, relaxing my body even more, until the purple-ish void was like a weighted fluffy blanket on me, and I fell asleep.

When I woke up, it was a light, feathery touch. My eyes fluttered open, but then I realized that I did not have eyes anymore. I was just a little ball of light, a small star in the midst of this void. Two large hands picked me up and cradled me in their hands, murmuring a soft, sweet melody.

They were a large, imposing figure, but they radiated kindness. Their fingers drifted over my little ball of light. Their eyes were covered by the veil that they wore, a tall witch’s hat that covered her face and most of her body. Soft, billowy violet robes cascaded and blended into the void. Thousands of little balls of light leaned against her, dozing happily.

I wished that this sort of treatment would go on forever, but they lowered me down with a soft gentleness, like letting a ladybug outside to freedom. I rolled into the sea of light, and then, I saw millions upon millions of individual balls of light, just like me, sleeping happily. Their fingers brushed over me one last time, before I dozed off in a happy slumber.

The last thing I saw was the tall person, Death, picking up another little bright ball of light, and whispering sweet nothings to them, before the blanket of the void pulled me under.
