Symphony

Band is something I don't know how to put into words

It's a medley

It's chaos

Of all the different instruments piled together

But it sounds amazing

When we come together

And really HEAR

And FEEL

The music

And sometimes

I get so happy

Playing with these kids

My bandmates

Some older than me, some younger, some my age

That I smile

Into my instrument

And sometimes

When we're warming up

And I sit next to my friend

Another flute player

And we jump onto the same part of a song

And it's like we're psychic

And it sounds so good

Just playing a duet

Together

Amid the loud chaotic mess that is our ten-minute warm-up time

Because I feel

The community

And passion

And love

And I will never give that up

Ever

Because music bonds you

To people you might not like to talk to outside of Band

But people you really GET

Because you play together

Like a symphony

Like perfect imperfection

Like worlds colliding

Like music.
