Stillness by the Sea

A gentle summer wind

blows

Waking me from my

Silent

Sleep.

I feel small

Cracks

And hear small

Pops

In my body. A

Satisfying

Sensation

After my long

Slumber.

I slowly

Squint

My eyes

Open, and

See the

Cerulean

Sea.

Shimmering from the

Golden morning light, that

Shines through the

Sky,

Swipes of pink and orange clouds filtering the world.

I open

My mouth to yawn.

All

Around me, this

Amber seaside morning

Embraces my body and spirit.

I take a

deep inhale, trying to

Digest the crisp, salty

Dawn. I accidentally

Drink in a

Dragonfly. I close my mouth

And shudder.

A seagull lands

Atop my head, but I don’t swat it,

For it is my friend.

All of the critters are my friends, like the

Algae and

crabs that

Crawl up my legs after the tide goes down

Only leaving the

Compressed sand

And the shell filled

Caches they

Contain.

The sound

Of the waves

Washing along the

Shore, and the faraway

Squawks of sea birds, carry in the

Wind. These sounds paired with

The rising warmth and light that fills me

Is almost enough to lull me back to sleep.

But It’s so beautiful

I force my eyes open

And feel my windows swing open.
