Rainforest Poem Collection

Short Poem Collection
Written for school. Didn't want to post them all seperatly, so I put them all in here. This was a prompt for school about rainforests and how they're being cut down. I chose to write some poems. :)

Noises of the Forest

Small songs laced

With the gentle breezes

A bird lands softly on a branch

Singing quietly with the rustling leaves

Watching the world below her

A relaxing tune

Accompanied by the soft beating of wings

And the croaking of bright frogs

Peaceful

They are interrupted by an at first gentle hum

Then it erupts into an ear shattering groan

A tree falls

And all is silent

The song has fallen quiet

Except for the loud wails of the human machines

Intruding on the gentle song

Of the rainforest

~~~
The Rain Forest
Small little flowers hold the secrets
That could save our lives
And yet
The tree falls to the ground
With a loud crash
But everyone pretends
They did not hear
Another is cut down
And another
And another
Until miles upon miles
Are simply stumps
And settling dust
~~~

Animals Forgotten

Tail woven among the

Now cut down

Tree branches

We left them to

Figure it out

An animal, forgotten

Large pads hitting the dirt

Running faster, and faster

Bullets streaking by

Until they fall

Pelt put upon the wall

But that animal

Forgotten

A small birds nest

Nestled in the crook of a tree

When the tree falls

They fall with it

No where to go, or hide

An animal

Forgotten

~~~
Many Years Ago
Many years ago
Everything thrived
The sky was open and clear
Life stretched on for miles upon miles
A gentle padder of paws
The flapping of wings
Were the loudest noises
The world was at peace
But
All good things come to an end
But this time
We still have a choice
About our ending
~~~
Fix This

We can fix this

Heal the world

It will take time

Years, days,

Longer than it took

To hurt the world

But we can fix this

A seed can be uprooted

But another can be planted

We can fix this

We just have to try.

  • Thoughts after the fair

    I’ve never enjoyed the feeling of being sick to your stomach on a fair ride. Maybe I just don’t have the iron-willed intestines that all of my friends seem to have, because I get sick from going on the teacups at a normal speed.

  • october, my love

    october,
    my love,
    it is good to see you once again.

    although it appears i have missed
    your grand entrance,
    while i left the room.

    i walked along the street to visit you,
    and looked up,
  • scratches

    skin pulled taut and tight
    burning like the light
    that seeps through cracks
    underneath the door

    from stray branches and walking
    throughout the woods, balking
    at the idea
    of no path

    water rests on skin
