The Penned Warrior

A teacher once told us

that we create our world

Each chapter and character

constructed

through ink, blood, and sweat

A teacher once told us

our ending

isn’t an ending

until those days of rue

when we see the light,

ever so bright,

guiding us home

again

Here I hold this pen and pave

a path through sleepless nights

and sorrowful days

I write my way out of the darkness,

write my way out of grief,

and into

something

new

A sudden

nothing

turned into

something

that someday I’ll share with you

I am the penned warrior

my words sharpened like weapons

I am the penned warrior

running away from a world of my creation

I rewrite the past time and time again

because I fear the future

A teacher once told us

that everyday we’re learning

Each day would be

different,

nothing stays the same

A teacher once told us

we should not fear failure

If not for mistakes,

the L’s we take,

are we even human?

Here I’ve tried every day,

but those days always

feel the same

But I’ll climb past the mountain,

that shrouded me in darkness,

and into

something

new

A sudden

nothing

turned into

something

that someday I’ll

smile onto

I am the penned warrior

my wounds are faded ink stains

I am the penned warrior

writing a way out of a black and white prison

I’ve escaped time and time again

but they always seem to find me

I was told that our ending

isn’t an ending

until those days of rue

when we see the light

ever so bright

guiding us home

again

  • She is Disorder

    “Stay away,” they’ll say

    “She doesn’t think right,”

    “She has horrible visions,

    incomprehensible to the mind.”

    She is disorder

    She is me

    A single thought blossoms

    into sweet insanity

  • The Monster

    A moment you can’t make

    a feeling you can’t shake

    I am the monster

    they tell you is fake

    I am the apathy

    I’m what they hate

  • The glow of the TV

    Do you remember the time

    that you and I

spent in front of the TV?

    We watched Disney cartoons

    and the world around us

    stopped.

    I remember

    when nothing else mattered

    and we could just be.
