My City, My City

My city, my city

It takes many forms

In people and plants

Vines and beggars

Angry men and sour women

The worst of the best people

And the best of the worst

Poets and great minds

Minds like mine

Spring is here

My city is ready for a new leaf

In need of a change

Something happened, though

A divine woman

She brushed past me

Her energy was like a power

She felt it, too

Something here is lurking on all of us

I feel magic in the ground and in the air

There is magic here and everywhere in my city

My city is alive and like a machine

It lost its humanity so long ago that it can't remember a time when it had it

A lack of love, a loss, a divorce from the earth, my earth

Two destined to be together in their loneliness

Or alone in their togetherness?

The details are mixed and matched and sorted in a place to distant in my mind

I can't call on them like I used to

But my city, this city brought them back

Brought my feelings, magic, and my beauty back

Or, rather brought them out

She reached inside my heart and found a beautiful thing hidden away by skin and bones

Husks and shells that hide our magic

I pray to grow out of mine

I pray to goddesses by the sea that they may feel so inclined as to help me escape this madness

This horrible body

This horrible mind

I have out grown my city

The city

A city

Its no longer mine, is it?

I can't remember how and when it no longer was.
