Miami

Miami. I need a flight to Miami. I couldn't stand the cold anymore. It was the beginning of January, the home of freezing temperatures and perpetually gray skies. I was cooped up in a little corner of my room with two high-powered heaters, a container of hand cream, a hand salve for my cracked knuckles, my trusty computer, and a calendar reminding me of my predicament. My scarf was wrapped tightly around my neck, I wore a hat so that my whole head was practically covered. I had done everything I could to stay warm. I typed Miami in my search bar. Left and right, images of the warmest vacation spots and beaches popped up. It was like the advertisements were trying to torture me! The long winter months were always the most agonizing to get through. I longed to go to a place with palm trees and sunshine, but I just had to be stuck in a frigid wasteland where my cold breath greeted me every day on my way to work. How can I get a one-way trip to Miami and never come back?

I had woken up in the middle of the night, craving cinnamon rolls. So, there I was, at 3 in the morning, dragging myself to the grocery store, still dressed in my fuzzy dinosaur pajamas.

    You hope for my demise,
    but I refuse to fall.

    You push me,
but I refuse to stay down.

You want to see me broken,
but I refuse to give you the satisfaction.
