The Maine Coast in December

I look over at the waves

Soft breeze on my face

The sun dancing brightly

On the rocks below

I clench my fist tightly

I know I want to go

The wind whips my hair

I almost start to shiver

But a smile graces me there

And now I infer

The water will be cold

Not a quick short cold

But a leg numbing cold

The bold sort of cold

But still I smile

And recall why I’m here

And the wind isn’t mild

But my heart fills with cheer

As I sprint toward the ocean

And people start to stare

Myself in full motion

Without a negative care

Soon I am in

And even sooner I’m back out

But I’d do it all again

Just give me a shout.
