Los Angeles Wildfires

I watched news report after news report

broadcasting the devastation of

the Los Angeles wildfires

on national television.

There was a sense of

hopelessness,

like there was nothing

anyone can do

or say

that will make this better.

I listened as

the news anchor's voice

detailed the deaths

that had already occurred

and watched

as people fled

on foot

away from their homes.

One mother was carrying her daughter

as they fled

the house

they'd lived in for years.

There was no other choice for

the people who

were impacted by the wildfires.

Whenever I thought of LA,

images of Hollywood, of

the Pacific coastline, of

sunny neighborhoods

flooded my mind.

It was for many people, where

their dreams come true.

Now,

there is only devastation.
