Living

The door lets out a soft click as I leaned my back to the wall, taking in the sight of white everywhere, I inhaled deeply, smelling something like mint lingering in the air and exhaled with the same amount of force. I stalked toward him, my walking pace slowed as I let my fingertips brush over every piece of furniture in my path. Somewhat trying to remember, what it was like to be in a place like this, this place that has given me so many burdens to carry. Emotionally and physically. Standing on the opposite side of the bed, the rhythmic beeps and hums from the machines made me shiver. Recovering from that abrupt chill, I smiled at him bittersweetly. Not out of the fact that he was in this tragic place but, the fact that there was a possibility, to some degree that, I will miss him. Whether he makes it or not.
