I Gave You The World And You Shattered It

Inspired by My Own Book Series

You took my hand

And told me to stay

You opened my eyes

And told me skies weren’t gray

You told me I was enough

And asked nothing more

You stitched my heart

As it bled on the floor

You were everything.

(At least, I thought you were)

To me, It felt like you cared that much

But now I know the truth

I wish I knew

How you felt

When I gave you the world

Because you said I should be happy with what I have

So I learned to expect less

And give more

A month passed

Before I realized

I was walking through a dead-end

You said you were trying

But I know

You’ll never reciprocate that feeling

So I waited

For you to care

For you to try

In the hopes that you would change

You never did

So I learned to stop waiting

I left

You were shocked

I don’t know how

You didn’t see

What you did

But I guess we weren’t meant to be

And I can live with that

So I search

For someone

Who will teach me

What it feels like

To hold the world in my hands

The way you couldn’t.

Our story always ends the same

No matter how many pages I turn

    In the end

    I’m the friend in need

And you’re the main character, always having to help me

I try to rip the pages out
