Forgetfulness

That evening she specifically made time to go exercise. It was the norm, but today she felt she had to push herself more than usual. She perspired more than usual, and she was unfamiliarly exhausted, to say the least. Trudging back into the mansion, dragging one foot behind with each step, even the stairs were a challenge for her often active body. Comprehending her last thought, after she'd thrown her phone on her bed and stripped herself of her sweaty workout attire. She was in her bathtub. Running the lukewarm water through her scalp and under her arms and enjoying the feeling, it calmed her, placing her in a placid abyss. Humming a subtle tune, subsequently while she did, another sound joined her. It was a jazzy song echoing in her ears, nearly all too familiar. When reality hit her, her phone was ringing. “Oh... Shoot,” she whispered. Leslie had totally forgotten that her mother was supposed to call her this evening. “Let me just hurry up and get outta here,” she utters in one quick breath.
