fall

warmth,

pumpkin spice lattes

hot, spice-soaked coffee drizzled with a splash of cinnamon

coated with half-melted whipped cream, nestled by the delicate fire,

comfort,

your favorite cardigan

airy wool with an array of faded buttons tickled with gold

a spectrum of patterns crisscrossing at the edges,

excitement,

sticky spiderwebs

a house hoarded by the dark and etched away by black

ghosts hogging the corners, always lurking somewhere for you to see,

love,

family

tingled by a warm sensation and a cheer to next year

when summer ends and fall comes again.

  • counting

ten tears that escape from the narrow corners of my eyes

flowing down my cheeks and onto my lap where they melt and disappear

    even my tears have lost.

nine questions scribbled into a diary late at night

  • I’m sorry

I’m sorry that I wasn’t the rings to your Saturn,

    because Saturn had cracked into two;

I’m sorry that I slipped salt into your sugar,

yet your sugar was bitter, I cried too.

I’m sorry that you never learned to care,

  • give me a reason

    Give me a reason

    for walking away,

    was I too shallow

when you wanted a deep abyss?

    Give me a reason

    for losing faith,

    was I too dreamy

when you wanted to be awake?

    Give me a reason
