Down

If I could touch the sky

the question is

would I?

What if

it was something

that could hurt me?

If I could fly

ever so high

the only thing

awaiting me

would be the fall

down

down

down

Because the laws of life

like laws of gravity

they tell me

all that’s left is the fall

what comes up

must come down

or there isn’t any meaning at all

Is it a burden to carry on our shoulder?

Or is it what keeps us sane?

Everyday we get older

till we fall

down

down

down

Yet if I

could touch the sky,

if only for a minute,

I would do it

In that moment,

light

shining so very bright

Is enlightenment worth it?

It is for a moment,

‘till you fall

down

down

down

Why did you have to hurt us?

    Again?

    Again?

    ‘Cause when I was young

    there was a chance

    a chance

    to be free

a chance to see a woman be

    something new and

    different

    I have a plan

    I am

    I am

    I’m running so fast

    going nowhere

    just going

    forever

I won’t stop to catch my breath

I won’t stop for life or death

    I’ll keep going

    going

    going

    pitiful laughs and lies

    and joys and cries

    and love and skies

    that are most breathtakingly

    blue

    I know

    the good and sad

    the ugly and bad

    the boiling mad
