Dolls, who you dress up in pink and white,
dolls, who you take to the park or on a flight,
dolls, who are made of plastic and cloth,
they are always so girly, never unique or even goth.
I visit my family, whom I expect love from nonetheless,
but the first thing I hear, is that I should wear a dress.
I like sweaters, jeans, engineering and sports,
but they expect makeup, dresses, and to be a wife who supports.
They say to have your hair long, and to dress modestly,
but I have to disagree, because honestly
I should be able to do what I want, even lift heavy things
instead of being an accessory to men who act like kings.
I am a person, it is who I will be,
instead of a doll, that everyone will see.

Yeah, that's right! We'll be who we are instead of what people want to see. And personally I don't wear dresses that much either lol, nor have I never really done makeup, and hell yes do I live for sports! Amazing poem!
Thank you so much for your support! It is so nice to see people also feeling the same way I do! :D
Yeah it's amazing to know you're not alone! :)
For an assignment at my school, I need some feedback about this poem. So, reply below for any revision ideas to how to make this better! :3
Okay I got ya: How about expanding upon the lines "I like sweaters, jeans, engineering and sports, / but they expect makeup, dresses, and to be a wife who supports"? Like, add in a couple lines expressing jealousy towards the boys, ex: "How come they get to fight / while I have to stay polite? / Can't I have my own cause? / And why do I have to do chores all day / while they go out to run and play? / I didn't choose this loss!"
Hope it was helpful! If you'd like any other kind of feedback, lmk
Great feedback! I'll be sure to add this into my assignment. Thank you so much!! :D
Anytime! :)
