Dead Hour

the clock is taunting me
with it's angry red eyes
and it's ticking growl
every hour
I look at the clock
and find it has been a minute
each minute
I look at the clock
and find it has been an hour

thoughts swarming
through my mind
until I reach
dead hour
every thought
is horror
every little sad moment
makes my droop onto the pillow
and cry into the softness

I do not remember
how I fell asleep
I just remember
finding a thought
soft, like a pillow
and curling into it
sinking down
and letting it swallow me up

black snakes of bad memories
slithered through my head
until I found that little one
that made me satisfied
and helped me sleep
through dead hour

  • Thoughts after the fair

I’ve never enjoyed the feeling of being sick to your stomach on a fair ride. Maybe I just don’t have the iron-willed intestines that all of my friends seem to have, because I get sick from going on the teacups at a normal speed.

  • october, my love

    october,
    my love,
it is good to see you once again.

although it appears i have missed
    your grand entrance,
    while i left the room.

i walked along the street to visit you,
    and looked up,
  • scratches

    skin pulled taut and tight
    burning like the light
    that seeps through cracks
    underneath the door

    from stray branches and walking
    throughout the woods, balking
    at the idea
    of no path

    water rests on skin
