A Cautionary Tale

I am the monster under the bed lying in wait while the mother comforts her son assuring him I do not exist. when I am a few feet away just waiting for him to sleep so I can creep out and make my move. not to eat him but to finally stretch my legs get a drink of water. for if I try this sooner I will surely end up as a stuffed trophy in a museum. an example for others like me who lie in wait for their moment to move, to eat, to drink.

Connection makes us happy, it is said.

Like fruit up high in trees, we like to be.

The bright sun rays that ripen us are spread

by basking in each other's company.

    Singapore

If I could escape somewhere else I would go to Singapore. This is not the most creative or poet answer, but this is the place I would like to go. I have always admired the architecture and the street food sounds amazing.
