Being a poet
I think to be a poet means
To be one to bleed out
On lined paper
And express the hurt
you must feel.
That not everyone is going to
Understand the
“language” we speak
To communicate.
That sometimes the words we write
Hit like a truck we didn’t see
Coming.
To conquer the fear
Of not being
Understood
By others
That writing our feelings
Is like exhaling a
Big breath
We’ve been holding in
For
way
too long.

There can be such intense catharsis and release in putting pen to paper and letting your emotions flow freely onto the page. And I couldn't have described that process any better than you did. I really love that you allowed the benefits of poetry and the creative process to fuel and inspire you into writing a whole new poem about it itself!
