Do you want to go on an adventure? 
To a place where time stops, where there’s nothing but you and me 
And the endless open sky. 

We could hike up a mountain and watch the sunrise, we could fall asleep,
Keeping each other warm. 
When you looked at me your brown eyes made my chest feel warm 
And my mind feel fuzzy. 

The music was still ringing in our ears, our hearts beat the same rhythm. 
You were never afraid to take control 
And I was always ready to give it up. 

In the beginning I only saw light. 
I only thought of how free I felt,
How safe your arms around me made me feel, 
It all felt so right.

When the leaves started to fall 
I started to notice all the little things that were always wrong. 
The times you never came, I’d never admit I waited. 

Your alarming texts, I can’t help but think you knew I’d worry. 
You knew I’d always worry if you were okay this time, 
Regardless of the times before. 
I always felt like there was something 
I had to prove to you.
Was it because of the years between us?
Either way I guess it didn’t really matter in the end.

We went on our adventure. 
I’ll never forget that big open sky, the bright stars, 
The late nights full of freedom, safety, and the excitement. 
I hope you haven’t forgotten these things;
I hope the ending isn’t all you remember.
