I saw the petals that had fallen off of the flowers on our kitchen counter and the shapes that they made from above, the bendiness and flexibility of these petals, struck me.

It's when we're
driving along
and it's the break of morning
when the sun hasn't been awake for long enough
to have warmed your still asleep body.
Or it's when we're
It's the beginning of the day
breathe out heavier
walking into school
trying to make a white cloud in the air.
It's the middle of the day
stick my fingers into my pockets
