I just wrote a poem about a really hard breakup I went through, and here’s some lines that really stood out to me:
I tried to be enough for you
But this could never be.
When you left me
You tore out my heart.
I gave you my trust
And you lied to my face.
I struggle to heal
From this hole in my chest.
It holds me back
Just like you did
As I try to progress
In my relationships.

It’s been over two years now
But some nights
It feels like there’s a
Gaping wound
In my heart
Shredding me to pieces from the inside
Beautiful collection of observations. I particularly like that first stanza!
Brilliant twist at the end. And an excellent exegesis of the psychology of storytelling!
