This is so lovely! The observations the friend makes of Becky, before she finally engages in a conversation about the notebook, is silent but judgment-free. They seem like kindred souls, without that needing to be said outright. Becky's commitment to pursuing her passion and proving her family wrong is inspiring.
The message behind this, that our past does not make us who we are, is felt so brightly and clearly in your words and almost sings, even, and with such cheer. Your personification of the tree and all its attending parts -- leaves, acorns, branches -- serves the overall tone of the piece well.
If you haven't read to Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross, it is a wonderful, ethereal story. If you love romance and amazing worldbuilding, you will adore this book. It's one of my favourites and the second book of the duology is out now too!
Thank you! This is so thoughtful :)
Did you make this sculpture? The shadow-play behind the butterflies is so whimsical and interesting in its levels of depth!
What an infectious smile! I rarely see self-portraits that feature a genuine grin!

Ahh, what a lovely feeling! I remember it all too well. The silence that a heavy snowfall brings is like no other.
