I’m moving.
I’ve found a little place in the Past,
It’s not much but I think it’s quite lovely, very dear,
And things aren’t working out Here,
So I’m settling for memories.
It’s temporary, I know,
Somewhere to lay low for a little while
Until I find something more permanent.
I know you’d disapprove —
This isn’t quite your style.
Not that you were ever afraid to
Pack up and leave,
It’s just that you never believed in going back.
You had your ideas about things,
Your philosophies and wonderings,
And well, mine rarely matched.
But that’s okay —
You keep running.
I’ll see you in the Past.

This is so good! The last couple of lines really hit hard. :)
Thank you — there’s a very specific feeling of escaping into memories and ignoring real life that I didn’t know how else to describe. I’m glad you liked it!
