[Alone in] Laughter, lamenting the lost light,
you don’t want to be the forgotten, the lost cause, the missed flight.
Reason runs thin when your sadness is bountiful,
ink runs red as you write,
over and over you must remember that you are beautiful.
[Alone when] All you see are strangers, and only you hear the silence,
a lengthy wait until you finally
hide the vampire, become the daydream of your nightmare.
Through this constant taking you walk,
time is a machine but still it fumbles, breaking,
you are not alone, just submerged in thought.
[Alone if] You are what is reflected in the shine of your shoes,
soulless as they are, you still carry your heart with you.
The words don’t have to be a revelation,
even if all you say are broken syllables,
you are here when you speak, we will hear your dedication.
[Alone] So you lead yourself downwards,
if only a smile
could communicate all that hurts.

Great metaphors! Especially love the first two stanzas, they hit deep
thanks! I'm not sure if they are all as connected as they could be, but I'm glad that they make some sense :)
Well it was a very interesting read :) I feel like this it the type of poem in which different readers will resonate with different parts since there's a pretty wide range of ideas in here (well either that or I'm just bad at metaphor lol, which would be a perfectly valid argument)
yeah totally :)
