little lions
poking up through the sidewalk cracks
little lions
rambling along the sides of hills
little lions
puffy yellow stars shining like the sun
little lions
green leaves raised and spiked
as if you could ever hurt someone
little lions
folding back up;
what, july too hot for you?
little lions
soft white fluff peeking out, impatient
little lions
all of a sudden the sky is filled
with seeds
little lion seeds
spinning in the wind, dancing,
and caught in their fluff:
wishes.

So many wonderful little observations, following the life cycle of this "weed" (does anyone really think like that?). To see this end with seedling wishes dancing on the wind was a sweet picture.
Thank you! And seriously, I don't think most people know that dandelions are a weed - and they shouldn't! Such a little flower, but it holds so much sweetness and so many childhood memories of blowing wishes into the wind.
This a really nice piece. It's been a while since I read poetry, and I'm glad that this is one of the first pieces I got to read coming back to it. Keep on writing lion!
Thank you so much! It's an honor that my little lions got to be the first piece of poetry you saw. (PS: Poetry is probably one of my favorite writing styles, so if you need any free verse book/poetry analogy/pieces of poetry/poet recommendations, I'm always ready!)
