If I Were The Sunrise
Some days I swear I can drink the sunrise
I could race it to the horizon and back up again
And if the orange tint got closer to my reaching hands
And the rose mist wanted to waltz around my molars
I would just become the colors myself -
What we do
We're forgetting and regressing
It's annoying, it's depressing
We are hating and we're crying
We are born and then start dying
We raise kids, put them to sleep
We herd cows and they herd sheep
We agree and we dissent -
Conversation Cocktail
I've never gulped down whisky from crystaline glasses
Let it wash around and buzz under my tongue
But I've stood in the centers of circles of people
Let laughter and rowdy gossip baptize my ears -
On a Tuesday
I saw you sitting by the bleachers
Lost in a world where everything is paper and ink and glue
On a Monday and you
Saw me drinking in lyrics by myself a few days after that
I first realised I liked you on a Friday -
The day after
If it is murder
It's the nicest murder I've ever experienced
Shiny and linoleum and bright and clean
Greeters and shoppers and killers in uniform
They let you pick your poison
Shiny racks filled with shiny toys -
Heartbeat
I have a hearbeat too
And it's not yours to stop because
I have a heartbeat too
And I have fully formed lungs
I have little hands and little feet
I have a future too
I have a future and you shackle me to the past
