I no longer know
what each day will bring
but the sun shines
and out comes the spring
and hopefully then
this virus will take wing

But right now
I don't know what's going on
and I have questions

We live in a bubble
every one of us
walking around
with our eyes shut
and ears closed
and our mouths
always moving
proclaiming 
our own problems
not listening
to the problems
of our town
our state

My ultimate dream:
to be on Broadway
An unrealistic dream
I know but maybe...
I at least want to see
a Broadway show
with the big stage
and the bright lights
and my wish was
about to come true
when this disease

Walking through the hallways
feeling a little strange
heading toward the bathroom
and facing myself in the mirror
Looking at my blank expression
and especially at my eyes
big eyes
blank eyes
hollow eyes

I stare
at the clock
on the wall
watching
as the hands
move slowly around
waiting
for the gong to sound
sending us to
our last class of the day
I move 
through the halls
quickly
with determination
