    I was 11—just a little girl playing on the swing set. I saw the picnic table, a white mother and her daughter were walking toward me. They were getting closer and closer as their baritone steps bared down on the rough pavement.

  • Becky's Sketchbook

    The first time I saw her, she was clutching a sketchbook in her arms. It was very plain-looking with a black cover and golden spirals.

    Every week at church, she carried that sketchbook. I never saw her without it.

  • A tribute to the observer.

    Although I’d likely consider myself shy and coy, 

    Occasionally withdrawn from the crowd, 

    There are many facets of an observer.

    For one,

    The ultimate observer can detect feigned emotion,

  • Rain

    I stand alone as the clouds turn grey...

    I watch as the rain starts to fall...

    I hear a roar of thunder in the distance...

    I see a bolt of lightning a few miles away...

     

    And yet...I feel safe not scared...

  • The Rebuke of the Chicken

    I saw a chicken crossing the street

    And said to myself

    “That’s rather neat!”

    So I asked him, why are you crossing here?

    And he glared at me with a stare so real

    Then he answered me appearing quite cross.
