Writing Music

I want something.
Something lyrical, something
that makes your tongue twist and tumble,
flip and unfurl.
Something with syllables you can taste, something
that makes you feel as if you've been broken,
shattered into pieces, then
put back together
better than before.

I need something.
Something that makes you understand color,
that makes you hear it.
Something that brings to mind sugar crystals,
in pinkredorangepurpleyellowbluegreenmagentaturquoise.
Feel them melt in your mouth, just
tiny
pinpricks
of bright sweetness.

I
Wish for something.
Something that will bring down the sky,
pull the moon closer.
But only metphorically you see.
Realistically, that would be catastrophic.
Something that could bring
origami birds to life.
But only if you wish hard enough.

I
dream for something.
Something that could change the world,
when only the second verse has been heard.
Something to amplify all the good on this earth, make it bigger.
Pop all the bad,
like bubbles, only
more thoughtful.

I
must have something.
Something that reveals
the reflections caught in a raindrop,
the pollen from a lemon blossom
turning the air thick
with honeyed streaks.

I
want
need
wish
dream
hope
For all this.
Only
I don't know what it is yet.
