The Wind Blew

The sky glowed golden as a brisk breeze blew. Today was the day. After today, nothing would be the same again.

A girl trudged up the huge mountain, her coat fluttering behind her, signaling a bird ready to fly away. She had on a small hat made of rough skin and fur, which she kept reaching up to steady.

The wind blew.

Down in the valley, Christmas lights were strung. Bells jangled from the girls heavy coat. Her boots scuffed through the drifts of blue snow.

The wind blew. And something changed in the air.
