WHEN I CLOSE MY EYES

When I close my eyes
Images dance before my closed lids
Distorted
Appearing, then rearranging themselves
To form new pictures
No less confusing
Than those that came before them.

Bars of solid darkness and light collide
Merging and creating a pattern
That I don't understand
Memories briefly surface
Then are dragged below
As if by an ocean current
And I am unsure that I will ever find them again.

It is a mess of worries and fears
An explosion of brilliance
That will never be revealed to the world
It makes me wonder
If the world would be different
If we could read each other's thoughts
Or maybe we would just collapse
Under the sheer weight of potential
Perhaps we are simply not ready
To be geniuses.
For even I can barely imagine
What truly happens
When I close my eyes.

    you are not you.

    you are what i think
alas i refuse to admit i am wrong.
    what can i say?
i love this version of you
he is kind and sweet and loving
    so very beautiful.
  • Slippery slope

    The way is harsh
    The light is dim
And we forget to celebrate love
Instead condemning faultless faults and forged sins
    We sit in silence
Festering in our lack of empathy
Or we stand and scream because still we are not heard
