They are the flow
from which all grow.
Every water molecule,
all very miniscule,
pass through the membrane
with no strain.
In and out,
up and down,
side to side
they bounce and they glide
in body rolls and twists
or any move that exists.
Past the tissue they slip and slide,
holding contests for the worm and the floss
as, like primacy, they shuffle across,
trailing the salt around
like insects do to light.
Water tends to compound
when the solute gap gets wide.
For the particles will leave the party if there isn't enough
and appear in all the popular places that have all the fun,
but in both cases, well things could get rough.
Since if they all leave, the cell shrivels up like a raisin,
but if it's too crowded, the cell's prone to lysing,
and neither are conditions it can manage to live in.
Concentration is what it's about
making sure it's even on both sides.
Whose passage cannot be denied,
but by the gradient will sure abide.

I wonder if anyone can guess what thing this poem is actually about lol
Hint: It's some very literal and real sciencey biology thing
Hint 2: It's some very literal and real sciencey biology thing relating to the relationship between the cell membrane, water, and concentration. And we learn about it in 10th grade (at least I did)
such a cool idea, and smart poem! :)
Thank you :D
