Under the Streetlight

I was standing on the street as
The street light glows bright in my face,
And in yours too.

The cool fall air grows heavy,
As the silence of the past grows weary.
My mind remembers a better time,
Where I still remember your face.

But I'll always know your name,
I'll know the way it was whispered as we sat on the lawn,
Wrapped in that old blanket.
As the fire roared and the night was still.

I'm standing in the streets once again,
But you're not here anymore.
And I don't remember your name,
As the years go by.
Three years has gone so fast,
Like the embers that rose and fell from the flame
That same night.

And the nights grow colder,
And soon they will grow warm again,
Repeating every year.
As we grow old but not as we planned.

  • The Smell of Fall

I want to smell the fall in the air
As we look up in the sky
Full of stars all different yet alike
I want the breeze to echo your name
As it floats along the wind

  • Fall Before

I want to find what I lost,
To search for it in the unknown.
    The relics of time,
Soon to be lost to the past.

    Life's beautiful moments,
Cherished but soon to be forgotten.
