Sunrise

While her parents were still sleeping in their cream colored sheets and warm blue comforter, she was awake. Lying in her mattress of pink and purple fluff, clutching her little tiger stuffed animal she tossed and turned but sleep rest was just out of reach.

She got out of the warm comfort of her bed, swathed herself in a bathrobe, and slipped out her room silent as a hawk. Climbing downstairs, being careful not to creak the old stairs, she grabbed her jacket, scarf, hat, camera, and a scone from last night.

Scone in mouth, she unlocked the locks on the front door, eased it open and swept out of the house.

She got out just in time for the beautiful blur of pink, orange, purple, and blue.

She snapped some shots of the sunset out of the highest branch of the highest pine tree. Then she sat, soaking in the birds’ songs, the smell of pine sap, and the incredible view she was seeing.
