Smoke Signal

“I swear, if you do that one more time-”

“Like this?”

“Do NOT kick that! Do you want to die?”

“Is that a threat?”

“Ugh, no.”

“So you don’t want me to die.”

“I don’t want to be responsible for you dying.”

“Aww you really do care about me.”

“Just don’t kick it. Walk away, okay?”

“Fine. But you owe me.”

“For what? Saving your life?”

“Point taken.”

“Ugh, I’m starving.”

“Is all you do complain?”

“No. Stop being so annoying.”

“You did it again.”

“If I have to be around you for another ten hours I am going to lose my mind.”

“I think you lost it a while ago. Or did you not even have a mind to begin with?”

“I was just wondering the same thing about you.”

“Alright then. As of right now I’m choosing to not fight with you. We have much bigger problems at hand.”

“You think?”

“How is that constructive?”

“Okay, okay. What if we try to make a smoke signal or something?”

“That's an idea. Do you have any matches? Give them to me.”

“Let YOU start the fire? And risk burning down the entire forest? I don’t think so.”

“Geez, have some faith. If it really bothers you you can do it.”

“Great.”

“Great.”

“Uhm, can you maybe help make a small pile of sticks or paper or something?”

“Please don’t put a magazine in.”

“Why?”

“Oh nice, now I get to save your life. You can’t burn a magazine. The ink is toxic when burnt.”

“Oh.. okay. Anything else I should know, Mr-Flammable-Toxin-Expert?”

“Do you have all day? You can’t burn beech wood. I was being sarcastic. Lighten up, will you?”

“Don’t make that joke around fire.”

“Alright. I think that’s good.”

“Yup.”

“Are you gonna light it on fire or…”

“Oh, haha. Yes.”

“You’ve got to be kidding me.”

“What?”

“Miss Don’t-Burn-Down-The-Forest can’t even start a fire? With a match?”

“Whatever. You can start it. Just be careful okay?”

“What makes you think I won’t be?”

“Everything. The fact that you’re almost a complete stranger, you let my phone fall into the lake… should I continue?”

“Nope. Got your point across.”

“Now we wait.”

“Yup.”
